This is just a preview, but its the first 'finished' page, although i'm still fussing with fonts. When I finish the the first 24 pgs, I'll launch it formally on its proper internet home. Launch date still TBD, but sometime around MoCCA fest.
Trying to make the most of my Labor Day 'stay-cation' week, so I went to the zoo! Went by myself since everyone else is at work i assume, and since its a weekday it wasn't too crowded! Rather peaceful. Lovely day for sketching! I tried using my ipad for some color. Worked out pretty well! Got a bit of attention, a little embarrassing. I still feel like some kinda 'Ms fancy pants' sketching on an ipad instead of paper like a normal human being. All sketchbook Pro.
A line up of some of the important characters in Aviary so i can remember their scale to each other.
in order left to right: Gavin, Jae, Klyden, Mo, Cynder, Simon, Big Scary Banshee, Smaller less scary Banshee
I'm not 100% happy with Simon, and I think the actual comic will be in a slightly looser style, but it's still in planning. There's a handful of other important characters I'd like to add to this line up eventually as well.
And this is Terry and James, two other characters from Aviary. They are pretty in a sort of J-rocker way. I feel a little guilty designing characters this pretty. o_O
Did this on my ipad using the sketchbook pro app. One of my first finished ipad drawings. Played with brushes a lot, result is a little tacky, what with all the half-tone but meh, all fun.
Watched Ghost in the Shell today while i was working. One of my all time favorite films, pure classic cyber punk anime, very smart, touches on a lot of themes i find myself thinking about a lot. So I felt inspired to paint this in my down time. I enjoy the movie a lot more than the TV series or the manga, and i like her look in the movie best too. She's a strange mix of very strong, sort of androgynous, yet still definitively female. And she's really spooky looking with those cold blue eyes.
Mo, one of my original characters from my hopefully one day comic. Mo is not as creepy as he/she looks. (Mo isn't exactly human, and doesn't really have a gender, but to make things easy Mo's referred to as a 'he'.) He's nervous, shy, and only bites on occasion. He's really just misunderstood. ;)
*sigh* I really do mean to keep my blog fanart light,.. I have DA for fanart, but...I really liked the way this one came out, so i couldn't resist. More Red Dead Redemption. Srs bsns cowboy video game fanart. I am such a geek.
